OK, don’t ask me where I was going with this one, but hang on – I believe there’s help here for us all in this off-beat devo that I wrote one day long ago – as I typed!!
It began as I was “nurturing” aches and pains in my aging body, the kind of stuff that happens to us all, whatever our age! I sat in my comfy recliner with heat on my back and ice on my foot, and it hit my funny bone. There’s gotta be a devotional in this somewhere, I thought…..and there was!
You see, the Lord works in mysterious ways, sometimes with His warm love flooding our souls, bringing His love, peace and joy into our hurts, healing the aches and pains of life in His own special way. It feels “good!” Thank You, Lord…….but then there are those other times……Ever had ice on a body part for a while? Does it feel good? Not on my body, how about yours??….it’s COLD and uncomfortable, but if the doctor orders it, we do it. It’s for our good, after all….it’s meant to bring healing, isn’t it?
But hold on, for you see, the Master Physician, also works in mysterious ways, even with the icy-cold stuff of life. He allows chilling fears that we might feel His peace; aching hearts that we might know His help; wounding pain that we might draw close to His side…..whatever it may be in your life and mine right now, He knows and He’s allowed it for our good. Thank You, Lord……You are molding and making me into the strong, victorious believer You want me to be.
The Great Physician is still in the healing business, and whether it’s the warmth of His love or the coolness of His care, He’s there to help, to hold and to heal us, just where it hurts. So today, if your back is hurting from a heavy burden, if your foot is aching from a weary walk, submit to His prescription designed not to hurt you, but to heal you. You’re safe and loved in the Hand of the One who knows best how to treat the wounds of your life……there’s healing in His Name……believe it and receive it with a willing heart. Remember, what the devil may mean for hurt, God will turn it into wholeness and His Name will be praised!
Hot ‘n cold, there’s healing in His Name for you today. Believe it and have a wonderful day!

Prayer: “Lord, I’m hurting and needing the help of the Great Physician. I surrender to Your Will and way to heal me, whether it’s the warmth of Your love You willingly provide, or the icy touch of pain You allow to bring wholeness to my life. You know exactly what I need this day, and I trust You. Heal me, Doctor of Heaven, In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
