A Web walk this weekend with Peggie through a home called Peggie’s Place! . . . .
Each year the USA headlines the big Hollywood hoopla – the glitter and glamor of the Academy Awards, watched by millions. And the usual? You’ll see an array of hopeful stars, half-dressed, acceptance speeches in hand, waiting to win the coveted gold Oscars…and the world watches. Millions of movie fans hope their favorites will win. Sensation, sex, sin are acknowledged, awarded, acclaimed – that’s the sick world we live in!
Our secular culture places ridiculous role models and mad dreams in the heads of our kids at an early age…and sometimes it never leaves, it just levitates to an adult level: “I hope I marry a rich man…I hope I can climb the ladder of success…I hope I live happily ever after…I hope I can lose weight…I hope these wrinkles will go away….I hope the terrorism will stop….I hope, I hope, I hope”…..all sorts of silly and sometimes sensible, but EARTHLY, hopes we may hold onto in this world….
But life is NOT about this world. Worldly hopes will disappoint. The rich man goes bankrupt, the business man gets fired, the marriage breaks up, the terrorists bomb another place…we bomb our diets…and then we die. And the big star? Oh yes, actor/actress leaves without the Oscar, trashes the acceptance speech and returns the designer diamonds. We turn off the TV and go to bed. What’s up? Forget the strange, unreal world of the STARS on Sunday night – What about MY world today? Is there ANY hope ANYWHERE?
Heaven says, “YES!” His Word says, “HOPE THOU IN GOD!” There is a hope that goes far beyond this world – it lies in trusting the God of this universe; in placing complete faith and our future in HIS hands while still in THIS disappointing world. .HE does not disappoint when we live in HIM and His Word….We can have hope in this life because we have hope in Another – another place and another Person – and HE does not disappoint.
Trust in the Lord this day; look UP – there IS hope – and it’s found in HIM and His everlasting love for you! Believe it, receive it, don’t count on winning an Oscar in life – a CROWN awaits you – now believe THAT, child of the King, and you will have a God-filled, Spirit-enriched, choco-rich day!

Prayer: “Lord, we hope in You–today, tomorrow, forever. Thank You for Your everlasting, ever-powerful presence in our lives. We honor You and give to You our highest praise, In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
