–A fun ‘n faith devo for today…..She’s off her rocker…..chocolates don’t matter? Huh? Well, before you close down your web browser and head for the nearest dessert den for some chocolate ice cream, read on…..it COULD be a matter of life and death!
You see, while weight-watching has become a national pasttime in the world, and while chocolate remains a downfall for most of us, that’s not the biggest battle we ever will fight. Let’s go to God’s Word…..
In our verse today we DO see that guilt-imposing word, “weight!” But God’s not talking here about chocolate or weight control (that’s if we leave “self-control” Bible verses out of the mix!), There’s another kind of weight that’s deadly not to the body, but to the soul….all the chocolate-weight in the world doesn’t matter an ounce in our verse today……Read it again!
Ever been “loaded down” with fear, guilt, anxiety, anger, SIN? Well, we know what we can do about the sin part – we can take it to the Cross and be forgiven. But what about the fear, guilt, anxiety – the heaviness of LIFE – that often weighs us down and tips the scales where we don’t want to go!!
What to do? Sure, we can run for a chocolate fix – but chocolate won’t fix THIS. We must take the weights of fear, guilt and anxiety to the same place we take the SIN – and then drop it off – at the Cross of Christ. He bore not only our sins and sicknesses – He also bore the “heavy stuff” of life that weighs us down…..and THAT’S the kind of weight God wants to address in our lives today.
Think about it, pray about it, and run to the Cross for relief…..He’ll meet you there this day, I promise you……you’ll feel so much better, and yes, I might even suggest that a BIT of chocolate will be OK – NOW – and it wll taste SOOOOOOO good!!
Scripture: “Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us,
and let us run with patience the race that is set before us (Hebrews 12:1 KJV).”
Prayer: “Lord, I’m weighed down today with the “stuff of life” – even chocolate, especially chocolate, can’t fix it. I bring my guilt, anxiety, fear, anger – and sin – to Your Cross – and Lord, I’m leaving it there. I arise from my knees free in heart, soul and spirit. You are my burden-bearer and I love You, In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Finish What You Start!
My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to
finish what I start.
So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a chocolate cake.
I feel better already.
