A Faith-Filled Word or Two…
A mini-message from God’s Word for your week!

“A Freedom for All Time”

Ever been handcuffed? Hopefully, not “for real,” but “for fun!” My trickster son, with his love for magic tricks, had a favorite one–to handcuff Mom, “lock her up” with a key….and then watch her fuss and fume to get “unchained!” I was ready to lock HIM up by the time he would decide to release me!

Ahhh…blessed freedom, not just from a trick set of handcuffs, but when, “for real,” prisoners of war, captured and kept locked up, for sometimes years on end, are finally released and set free. We can only imagine what it must be like–for we’ve never experienced the bondage of being such a prisoner, right?

Wrong! Millions of people live in a locked-up mode–captive to their past, their present, and hopelessly, to their future. Is there no hope? Indeed there is! For whatever the bondage, Christ came to set the captive free–for all time and eternity too! As the Fourth of July USA celebration approaches, in whatever country you live, you can know the freedom that only Christ can give–freedom from the handcuffs of life that bind you–doubt, guilt, fear, anxiety, anger, sin, unforgiveness, unbelief–whatever has YOU “locked up” in tight knots inside–where no one but the Lord sees!

Let the Great Emancipator free you this day–the freedom He won on Calvary and at the empty tomb is a freedom for all time–your past, your present and your future. Believe it and have a freedom-filled Fourth of July WHEREVER on Planet Earth you live!

Scripture: “If the Son, therefore, shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed (John 8:36).”

Prayer: “Lord, I’m in a prison of my own making, locked up and paralyzed by the past, the present, and fear of the future. Set me free this day from everything that binds me, that I might praise Your Name, In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

Recommending “Sunday Rhymes & Reasons – Inspirational poems for pastors, leaders and other imperfect saints” – by our favorite Pastor/Poet Greg Asimakoupoulos!

Sunday Rhymes and Reasons is a compilation of inspirational poetry by America’s pastor/poet laureate, Greg Asimakoupoulos. In this, his third volume of poetry, Pastor Greg paints word pictures that portray both the struggle and fulfillment that define a life of faith. His repertoire of rhymes celebrate rite-of-passage occasions like birth, baptism, marriage and death as well as the major holidays of the church and culture. It is a volume that illustrates the poet’s love of words and of popular culture. The author dips his brush into a paint box of hubris, humor and honesty.

“Gloria and I have been encouraged by word pictures from Greg’s pen that have celebrated both our ministry and God’s presence in our world.” – Bill Gaither, Gospel music composer/performer

“Gifted poet Greg Asimakoupoulos is a dear friend of our family. His poetry blesses, comforts, entertains, and provides inspiration for every season of life.” – Natalie Grant, singer/songwriter/recording artist

“Men and Women!?!”

A man is a person who, if a woman says, “Never mind, I’ll do it myself;” lets her.

A woman is a person who, if she says to a man, “Never mind, I’ll do it myself,” and he lets her; gets mad.

A man is a person who, if a woman says to him, “Never mind, I’ll do it myself,” and he lets her and she gets mad; says, “Now what are you mad about?”

A woman is a person who, if she says to a man, “Never mind, I’ll do it myself,” and he lets her and she gets mad, and he says, “Now what are mad about?” says, “If you don’t know I’m not going to tell you!”

A ONE WORD PRAYER

I just breathe the name of Jesus
when my heart is filled with fear.
And though I cannot see His face,
I know that He is near.

When I whisper “Jesus” softly
I’m admitting I’m in need.
By calling out that precious name,
my stress-bound soul is freed.

It’s a one-word prayer I utter
when I’m not sure what to pray.
It’s a prayer of sweet surrender
when I’m weary of “my way.”

I pray “Jesus” when I’m worried
or when I am depressed.
I say “Jesus” when my mind’s confused
or when my life’s a mess.

It’s a prayer He always answers
as He gives me eyes to see
evidences of His presence
and His tender love for me.
